Android Market Would Surpass Apple’s App Store Soon!
Tech Crunch exclusively reports; Android Market would surpass Apple’s App Store in size by the end of July 2011. The report claims that Android Market would have more apps to offer for download or purchase than Apple’s App Store since the later is performing at a very slower growth rate while Android Market is expanding widely and its growth rate is accelerating with a stunning pace.

Tech Crunch cites an app store analytics company Distimo in its report that confidently describes its foreseen; Android would surpass the App Store in size by the end of July 2011.
Not only Distimo, another research firm, Germany-based research2guidance, also endorses the Distimo’s predictions; the firm forecasts Android to exceed Apple’s App Store by August 2011.

If the trend of current growth rates for new app uploads continues; research2guidance hopes that Android Market to reach 425,000 apps next August, effectively overtaking App Store in size. Android Market had 28,000 new apps in April 2011, whereas Apple included only 11,000 new apps in its App Store.
On the contrary, the success of an app store is negatively correlated to the success of an average developer. All analysis on the early months of an app store including the Android Market shows that average download numbers decrease dramatically after the first months or even weeks after the launch of the store. The long tail gets longer and longer while the top 5% gets richer and richer.
It means that the previous reports describing that Android would take over Apple by the end of 2011 are fairly true to some extent. Android Market’s stunning growth rate is worth noting, and truly points out that Apple is losing its grip on mobile market and Android is near to have dominancy over Apple in near future.
