Apple Responds over Most Criticized Feature of iOS 6 ‘Apple Maps App’
Apple has kicked off Google Maps from its latest version of iOS 6 by introducing its own 3D mapping solution ”Apple Maps” but it is probably one of the most criticized feature of new firmware. Though Apple Maps is powered by a combination of its own work and data licensed from other companies such as TomTom yet beta testers have reported that it is of poor quality by many aspects with a hope that Apple would improve Apple Maps before the public launch of iOS 6.
Apple’s new Maps app is full of malfunctions in mapping data, slip-ups in locating points of interest, deficiencies in transit information, and sometimes-weird 3D mapping imagery.
But within a day of public launch of iOS 6, Apple’s new Maps application has been criticized massively over its missing features and glitches. Apple is well aware of the entire issue and just posted a public statement via AllThingsD:
“Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service,” said spokeswoman Trudy Miller. “We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.”
AllThingsD notes that the Apple Maps app developer team is “under lockdown” to fix the app in no time.Notably, Google has already put its case to Apple Store for approval of its superior Google Maps App for iOS devices.
