No ARM (A5) Based Macbook Air in Presence of iPad Tablet! [Report]

Last year, it was much rumored on the tech surfaces that Apple had been excitedly testing an ARM (A5) based Macbook Air; ARM (A5) processer is currently being widely used in iPhone 4S and iPad 2 devices. At that time, a few logical questions were raised by many tech experts asking about the nature of the device, whether ARM-based Macbook Air would run OS X or iOS operating system? And would it would be like a Mac or iOS device nature-wise? Also, it was suggested that ARM (A5) processor would considerably boost battery life of the device by reducing power consumptions but at the cost of computing power of the device.

Moreover, ARM processor would discard binary compatibility with existing Mac OS X applications.

Now a latest report from CNet, citing a research note from Citigroup analyst Richard Gardner, reveals that Apple has no intentions to offer an ARM-based Macbook Air ever to its fans since it feels that iPad tablet is enough to satisfy the needs of its users.

Actually, Gardner has met with Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Peter Oppenheimer on Thursday and after that meeting he notes;

“Tim Cook reiterated his view that rapid innovation on the iOS platform (and mobile OS platforms in general) will significantly broaden the use case for tablets, eventually pushing annual tablet volumes above those of traditional PCs. We have wondered whether Apple might offer an ARM-based version of MacBook Air at some point; we walked away from this meeting with the impression that Apple feels iPad satisfies–or will soon satisfy–the needs of those who might have been interested in such a product.”

On the basis of his talk with Apple high ranked officials, Gardner now believes that in the presence of Apple iPad tablet there is no need of an ARM-based MacBook Air at least to Apple.

Now Apple is almost ready to reveal its next generation iPad 3 tablets to the folks which will reportedly be equipped with some high end technologies including a faster processor, improved graphics capabilities and the highly improved Retina Display. So, at this point, Tim Cook cleverly presented an impression to a top class tech analyst that his company is focusing on iPad product line only, so not divulging the focus of the fans waiting for a fully redesigned iPad 3 otherwise a complete Apple transition to ARM processors is not out of question yet.
