Geohot Quits Facebook! Will Dig out Bootrom Exploit for iPhone 4S and iPad 2?

Geohot (George Hotz), the famous hacker and iPhone developer has quit his job at Facebook. Gehot got the peak of popularity in jailbreak community for hacking Sony Playstation for the first time.

Geohot was spotted in a hackthon competition at Backplane, a startup funded by Lady Gaga.

During the hackathon, I got to work with him as he built an app that allows you to see where your Facebook friends are on a map. Aviv Ovadya, a Quora engineer, was also on the team. Ovadya focused on the front end mapping part of the program. Hotz was focused on getting the API info and programming that into location data.

He didn’t succeed to win the hackthon as it was lost out to a group of high school students.

Just after releasing a bootrom exploit called Limera1n for iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, and iPod Touch 4G, Geohot wend behind the scene and joined Facebook.

Interestingly enough, no bootrom exploit has been dug out yet for the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. Will Geohot provide first bootrom exploit for A5 devices after joining again the jailbreak and hacking community.
