Install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Alpha on Galaxy S/S II [How to Tutorial]

Every techie knows it well that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the most advanced and significant operating system recently launched by Google for some new Android powered phones like Samsung Nexus. Being an open source OS, the clever hackers and developers have already successfully ported Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) on a few most popular smartphones. We are here with an easy step-by-step tutorial that allows you to install Android 4.0 ICS on your Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S II devices without any trouble.

Also, it should be noted that ICS currently in alpha stage with latest build Alpha 7, therefore connectivity features like modem, Bluetooth, WiFi and other basic elements including sound, camera etc. don’t work. This build is not suitable for daily use, so we strongly recommend you to not put hands on it and wait for a stable or at least beta builds of Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

How To Install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Alpha On Galaxy S / SII

Also, your phone must be rooted for this installing process. You can search guides for how to root Galaxy S II or how to root Galaxy S on Google. You must also install ClockworkMod Recovery before progressing ahead to install Android 4.0 ICS Alpha on your devices.

Notably, check the battery of your smartphone to ensure that it wouldn’t last during the process that would end in a few minutes if you properly follow the turtorial given hereby, otherwise your phone might “Bricked” on the spot.

One thing more for better prospectus, don’t forget to have a backup of your data which could restore the previous setup on your device.

Step-1:

First of all, download required Android 4.0 ICS file to your computer from the links given below.

Step-2:

Now connect your device via USB and move the file to the root of your phone’s storage media.

Step-3:

Then, restart your phone after file transfer completes.

Step-4:

Now, boot into ClockworkMod Recovery by holding Volume Up + Home + Power button at a same time

Step-5:

Scroll down to mounts and storage and format /system. Then, you should also format /data and /cache.

Then go back to menu and wipe data / factory reset.

Step-6:

Finally, from main menu: install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > [name of file you downloaded in step 1] to install Android 4.0 ICS Alpha build on your device.
