Jialbreak iOS 5

A new Cydia tweak “Semitether” jailbreak for iOS 5 has been just released by BigBoss repository allowing you to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch without any need to plug your devices into PC or Mac for rebooting. The only disadvantage of this tweak is that it doesn’t allow you to use Safari, Mail, Cydia, and jailbreak apps installed on your iOS devices. Also, it doesn’t work on iPhone 4S or iPad 2.

At present, we have only tethered iOS 5 jailbreak solution for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, meaning that after jailbreaking your devices and installing a lot of stuff, you have to reboot your devices. It will certainly no longer boot, either will stuck at Apple logo forever or iTune restore screen will prompt in front of you. So you will have to plug your device into PC or Mac and run Redsn0w “just boot” feature for getting reboot successfully.

To get us through this period, I have worked on a semi-tethered solution. The semi-tethered jailbreak will allow you to reboot on the road, but with limited functionality. It is enough that you are no longer stranded, and you can use your phone, text, and many other features. This is just until you get home and can use redsn0w again to “just boot tethered”. Once you do that, you’re back to fully functional state.

What we can do with this Semi-tethered jailbreak for iOS 5? You have to learn that it is only if your phone accidently powers off and you don’t have access to RedSn0w to boot tethered.

  • Semi-tethered iOS 5 jailbreak allows you to do;
  • Phone, sms (text messages)
  • Stock app on iphone
  • App store web browsers such as atomic web browser
  • mail app.
  • You could install a gmail app from appstore or such instead

Note Please!

In the semi-tether booted state, never add a jailbreak iOS 5 notification (like sbsettings to notifications) otherwise your device will be stuck in a respiring loop until you get home to “boot tethered”.
