9to5Mac notes:

While it is not much of a surprise, Apple officially unveiled its all new “next-generation MacBook Pro” that Phil Schiller described today as a “breakthrough in engineering.” At just 4.5-pounds and 0.71-inches thick, the new MacBook Pro has an all-new slimmed-down design that we noted previously makes the device almost as thin as the MacBook Air. It also has a 15.4-inch Retina display that boasts a resolution of 2,880-by-1,800 and 220 ppi. Not surprisingly, Apple was quick to note this makes it the “world’s highest resolution notebook display.”

Pricing of New Retina Macbook Pro 2012:

As for configurations, Apple will start shipping all models today starting at $2,199 for a 2.3GHz quad-core i7 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage. Opting for a 2.6 quad core i7 and 512GB flash storage will cost you $2,799.

AppleInsider comments:

The next-generation MacBook Pro runs exclusively on Intel’s new Ivy Bridge quad-core Core i7 processors and can be configure with up to 16 gigabytes of RAM. Batteris have also been improved as the unit boasts up to 7 hours of life under normal load along with a MacBook Air-like 30 days of standby time.

As far as connectivity, the new machine features the usual SDXC card reader, but adds two high-speed USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and HDMI-out. Due to the lack of an optical drive, Apple had space to include ports on both sides of the device and relocated the SDXC card slot and one USB port to the right of the keyboard flanking the HDMI-out connector. New Thunderbolt accessories announced on Monday give FireWire 800 and Gigabit Ethernet capabilities to the new transfer technology.

Engadget introduced a hands-on with the new MacBook Pro unboxing, just depicting how much slimmer the new MacBook Pro is and how much new Pro looks elegant with Retina Display;

It’s 0.71-inches thick, or roughly 25 percent thinner than the current generation Pros (which, by the way, live on — except for the 17-incher). That’s just .03-inches thicker than the 13-inch MacBook Air, but it feels like quite a bit more. Where the Air is tapered, this has a constant thickness throughout. So, again, it doesn’t feel like an Air, but it’s a big improvement over the Pro.

On the right side you have an SD card reader, full-size HDMI port and the first USB 3.0 port. (Which, by the way, is not blue — Apple just made all the ports 3.0 and they’re all naturally white.) On the other side is the other USB 3.0 port along with dual Thunderbolt ports, a headphone jack and the new MagSafe 2 connector.

The Verge comes to highlight the big features of new Macbook Pro-2012 with a number of images and a hands on video of Retina Macbook Pro;

So we meet. It’s one thing to see the new MacBook Pro with Retina display behind thick, protective glass. It’s another to see it up close and personal, where you can actually get a feel for the weight and thinness of the device. The laptop we’re using is a 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with a 3.6GHz Turbo Boost, Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM, a massive 512GB of flash storage, and of course, the 15.4-inch 2880 x 1800 Retina display — no more turning down settings to play Diablo 3 (remains to be seen, but rest assured we’ll test this when we get a moment’s breath).

Macrumors notes the major features of new Macbook Pro with a introducty video of the device posted by Apple itself;

It includes quad-core Ivy Bridge processors up to 2.8GHz and turbo boost up to 3.7GHz, up to 16GB of MacBook Air-like non-upgradable 1600MHz RAM, and a maximum of 768GB of next generation flash storage. The new Pro weighs in at 4.46 pounds and is 0.71″ thick, but does not include a MacBook Air-like tapered body. There is no optical drive.

Apple claims 7 hours of battery life with 30 days of standby time. It includes an SD slot, HDMI, and a USB 3.0/2.0 combo port on the right side, and a MagSafe power port, two Thunderbolt ports, another USB 3.0/2.0 port and a headphone jack on the left. Apple will soon begin offering a Firewire 800 and Gigabit Ethernet to Thunderbolt adapters. The machine also includes “the best stereo speakers ever put into a desktop or notebook” and dual microphones.

 And finally here is the summary of features of new Retina Macbook Pro 2012 which is matchless in laptop market;
