Samsung Plans a Retina Display Tablet for Knocking Apple’s iPad 3 Releasing in Feb.2012!

Everything is fair in love and war! So the patent war between Samsung & Apple will flame up with much intensity in coming Feb. 2012. Actually, Samsung is planning to release an 11.6” Retina Display Tablet (2560 x 1600 resolution) in coming February to knock iPad 3 releasing in Feb.2012, as reported by BGR.

Even though the tablet features a larger display than Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, we’re told that the tablet is “barely larger” due to the fact the slate will have a thinner bezel with a whopping 2560 x 1600 resolution, 11.6-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Samsung thinks that a tablet with 2560×1600 resolution would enough to lose the Apple’s tight grip on tablet market that is bringing its next tablet- iPad 3 with 2048×1536 display in upcoming February, most likely.

Back in May, Samsung first released a 2560×1600 screen , at SID Display Week 2011 International Symposium, based upon a relatively new and less used PenTile technology to display such a high resolution which was mostly condemned by tech critics for its latent weaknesses.

The PenTile display uses a series of local filter operations to convert the underlying image into display intensities, including convolution, thresholding, color curve adjustment, and postprocessing with locally-adaptive filters. In practice, this means the display blurs the red and blue channels by dispersing these color intensities to the nearest subpixel element of the right color, and then also implements subpixel positioning to increase the apparent resolution again. However, subpixel spacing is not constant across the display, making the real apparent resolution complicated to estimate

Apple and Samsung legal war is now an obvious part of tech debates that begun with Apple’s claim pointing that Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are the super clones of its iPhone and iPad tablets. Also, Samsung has faced the ban on sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in many countries.

A retina display iPad is one of the most loveable dreams of Apple fans and the company has been working on it since many months just after the iPad 2 debut when the company made a big leap to 960×640 from 480×320 resolutions.

The most prominent problem in delay of iPad 3 was the retina display incorporation in a sleek iPad design, but latest reports suggest that Apple iPad 3 might be slightly thicker to accommodate retina display and would be released in early 2012.
