Tim Cook Confirms: ‘S’ in iPhone 4S Stands for Siri- Your Personal Assistant

Today, Apple CEO Tim Cook was the special guest at D10, All Things D Conference, where he was interviewed by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swishera. Tim Cook revealed his views and opinions on various important topics including Steve Jobs, Patent Wars, Apple TV and iPad in this striking interview. Moreover, he also said something about Facebook, his role as Apple CEO after Jobs departure, and Apple’s future plans for secrecy of their upcoming product.

Siri

Along with many interesting revelations, Cook also pushed out some tidbits about iPhone 4S’ exclusive feature ‘Siri’- your cute personal assistant. And he confirmed that ‘S’ in the nomenclature iPhone 4S really stands for Siri as majority of techies have already guessed. He also confessed that in spite of the fact that Siri is the most efficient voice recognition software; still it has some bugs and sometimes its workability goes beneath the standards.

“Customers love it. But, there’s more that it can do, and… we have a lot of people working on this. I think you’ll be really pleased with what you see in the coming months on this. We’ve got some cool ideas about what Siri can do. We have a lot going on on this.”

He also claimed that in near future Siri will be a more professional assistant with some extraordinary skills of communication and while also teasing with Walt Mossberg about how it has a bit of a playful personality, he replied, “I think you’ll be really pleased with where we’re taking Siri.”

Siri-iPhone 4S

At present, Siri is the prettiest communicating software in mobile industry but its bugs and malfunctions are also teasing ones for some folks. Moreover, Apple is not interested in porting Siri to non-iPhone 4S devices and also it is not creating an API for developers to integrate it with their third-party apps. However, many talented developers have released many jailbreak tools at Cydia for porting Siri to other devices (just like i4Siri-Spire) or for hacking Siri for other useful purposes.

We think that with the passage of time, we will experience many incredible capabilities of Siri beyond our thoughts as developers have been consistently working on digging more possibilities and potentials hidden in Siri’s artificial intelligence system.
