Why a 7.85 inch iPad Mini isn’t Illogical and Out of Question?

The release of Apple’s 7.85 inch iPad Mini has been rumored a number of times in previous few months regardless to the opinion of many tech analysts who don’t believe on a smaller sized iPad model…. iPad Mini. It should be also noted that Apple’s visionary Steve Jobs , who died in November last year, was strictly against the larger iPhone and a smaller iPad and once he dismissed all those rumors suggesting a 7 inch iPad model by Apple.

Actually, Jobs hatter for a mini iPad was focused on the pleasant users interface and he believed that less than a 10 inch form factor for an iPad tablet will badly hit the user experience and will demolish their delights associated with iPad.

However, the rumors of a mini iPad with a 7.5 to 7.85 inch screen size are continuously hitting the tech surfaces. It has been recently reported that Apple has begun the mass production of Mini iPad with 1024×768 7.85″ screens and the device will be released by the end of this year.

Now, it is AppAdvice that looks into this exact screen size and reveals that an iPad Mini with 7.85″ screen size  is not illogical and out of question as considered by many tech experts.

According to the calculations of the site; the points per inch (PPI) of such a rumored 7.85″ 1024×768 display is 163 PPI which is exactly the same pixel density as we have aerlier experienced on  the original iPhone and iPod Touch before the introduction of Retina Display. Apple’s human interface guidelines for iOS development including iPad and iPhone suggests that the minimum size for tappable user interface elements should be kept at 44 x 44 points.
Interestingly, the 44 x 44 point size suggestion is fit to the original iPhone and the original iPad, even though the original iPad came with less pixel-density. Interestingly, the same proposal of 44 x 44 points works for Retina Display, however, each point is represented by 2 pixels.

We think that these whole discussion doesn’t concludesaa that Apple will definitely release an iPad Mini with a 7.85 inch form factor, instead, it clearly shows that the choice of a mini iPad isn’t totally illogical and out of question, technically.
