Geohot-Microsoft Dialogue: Geohot Offers to Build Cool Stuff for Windows Phone 7 (WP7), Microsoft Response?

You remember guys! Sony filed a lawsuit against Geohot and failoverflow over PS3 jailbreak while Apple also pursed a petition to the US Trademark Office asking them to hold a strict action against the persons and teams involved in hacking, unlocking and jailbreaking of Apple’s iOS devices and softwares, just a few days ago.  We were sure that it will be a great challenge for the hackers and jailbreakers to continue their activities in this perspective after these steps taken by giant companies at a large scale and were waiting for the response from any major hacking team or individual. Now Geohot comes forward with its response by offering its services to build cool stuff for Windows Phone 7 with a message on its updated website “perhaps a more appropriate way to deal with jailbreakers I’m going out to buy a Windows 7 phone”. How Microsoft responses over this great offer by a great hacker? Let’s see….

Here is the response from the Microsoft through Brandon Watson, Director of Windows Phone 7 (WP7), over this offer by Geohot to do work for their Windows phone 7(WP7) which is tweeted a few hrs later;

Geohot offer may be based on the soft response by Microsoft over jailbreaking & unlocking of their core product Windows phone 7 (WP7) by Chevron WP7-a well known hacker group on WP7. Now, at this stage, the jailbreaking and hacking story catches a new twist with the positive response from Microsoft over the jailbreak offer by Geohot. Now Apple & Sony will surely be thinking to take their step backs in this regard. If they don’t do that they will really be the looser in this mobile market war; Since there is no meaning of Apple’s iOS devices if Apple strictly forces the consumers to have the same carrier & firmware as selected by Apple alone. If this scenario develops further and Microsoft exhibits the same flexibility to jailbreaking/unlocking and hacking issue, we are sure that Microsoft will win the market with its Window Phone 7 (WP7) device allowing users to have the carrier and firmware of their own choice.
