Geohot will Try to Jailbreak Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 in Pwn2Own Contest 2011-Next Week

Pwn2Own Contest is held yearly and it will set on next week, in which security analysts and hackers will join together to expose some security exploits running on various devices. Though Pwn2Own mostly concerns to the PCs and laptops but this year it seems that it will be also hacked to hacking activities on mobile devices.

In Pwn2Own Contest, the security of mobile devices will be a major issue. The devices which will be thoroughly tested are the iPhone 4 running iOS, the Blackberry Torch 9800 running Blackberry 6 OS, the Nexus S running Android, and the Dell Venue Pro running Windows Phone 7.Our brave hacking master Geohot is expected to jailbreak Windows Phone 7 in this contest, as per web reports. Will Geohot get a success in this contest to win a handsome cash prize and the hacked device as well?

Since Microsoft is much interested to make its OS WP7 a hack-proof operating system, Geohot (George Hotz- the name by birth) is going to put a solid hand on Dell Venue Pro running Windows Phone 7 to show his abilities of jailbreaking any device even which is labeled as a hack-proof device (as in the case of Sony’s PS3).

The rules of Pwn2Own contest describe;

Any attack that can incur cost upon the owner of the device (such as silently calling long-distance numbers, eavesdropping on conversations, and so forth) is within scope.

Geohot to jailbreak WP7

Just after the Sony’s lawsuit against him, Geohot declared on his official blog that he is going to have a Windows Phone 7 loaded device. He also offered Microsoft to work together and got a Window Phone 7 gadget  in response from Microsoft. But what happened next? It is still behind the curtains.

If we have a look on Geohot’s jailbreaking career, he has a lot of jailbreaking tweaks in his pocket to proud. He has jailbroken Apple’s iOS devices with its well known jailbreak tweaks-Limera1n and Blackra1n while the jailbreaking of Sony’s PlayStation 3 by Geohot is a most famous jailbreak activity in the hacking history.

Let’s wait and see! We hope, Geohot will be a victorious hero again in upcoming Pwn2Own Contest 2011 with jailbreaking Microsofts’s OS- Windows Phone 7.
