How to Jailbreak Apple TV (2G) on iOS 4.2.1 Using Seas0nPass [Tutorial]

The famous hacker FireCore has just released another Jailbreak Tool “Seas0nPass” to create custom jailbroken .ipsw files for your Apple TV (2G) on iOS 4.2.1. Seas0nPass jailbreak tool is also limited to tethered-boot your Apple TV just like all other jailbreak tools. Here is the complete step-by-step tutorial for jailbreaking your Apple TV with this new tool “Seas0n Pass” to pass this winter season comfortably with excitements.

FireCore introduces its new jailbreak tool “Seas0nPass” for Apple TV(2G);

Currently the jailbreak for the 4.1.1 (iOS 4.2.1) software is ‘tethered’. A tethered jailbreak requires the AppleTV to be connected to a computer for a brief moment during startup.

Before going to jailbreak your Apple TV (2G), you will have to do the following;  

• Get a Micro-USB cable
• Download iTunes 10.1.1
• Download iOS 4.2.1 for Apple TV (2G)
• Download Seas0nPass

Let’s start the jailbreaking process with “Seas0nPass” now;

Step -1: Launch already downloaded Seas0nPass.

Step -2: Now choose “Create IPSW” option to create your own custom firmware for Apple TV (2G).

Step -3: Hold for a while, for Seas0nPass to download all the files needed to build custom firmware.

Step 4: As Seas0nPass prompts, connect your Apple TV using a micro-USB cable (leave power disconnected), and hold-down both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons simultaneously for 07 sec.

Step 5: iTunes 10.1.1 should start now automatically to go for restore process.

Step 6: iTunes will surely verify the restore when it completes. Once Done, Well Done!

Your Apple TV (2G) has jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1, indeed.

As it is just a tethered jailbreak, you will require booting your Apple TV into “tethered-boot” mode for its proper working in jailbroken status. You can also do it easily by following our tutorial here.

Note Please!

Disconnect your Apple TV (2G) from your PC (for at least 02 minutes) after restoring it in iTunes 10.1.1 to proceed for tethered boot process as given below;

Step -1: Start Seas0nPass once again and this time choose the ‘Boot Tethered’ option instead of “Create IPSW”.

Step 2: As Seas0nPass prompts, connect your Apple TV to your PC through micro-USB. Hold for rapid flashing light on Apple TV and then connect the power. Once both are connected, hold-down both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons simultaneously for 07 sec. for it to enter DFU mode.

Yippee!  You have done your job. Seas0nPass will now automatically complete the remaining tethered boot process. Once Done, Again Well Done.  Finally remove the micro-USB cable and connect the HDMI cable now.

You will surely want to install the following apps after jailbreaking your Apple TV (2G) with Seas0nPass on iOS 4.2.1.
