A hacker and iPhone developer Nadeem97 has released PwnageTool Bundle to Jailbreak iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS untethered running iOS 4.2.1 while preserving the old 01.59.00 Baseband for iPhone 4 and 05.14.04 Baseband for iPhone 3GS. It means that you can then unlock your device easily with the existing version of UltraSn0w.

Follow this Step-by-Step tutorial to Jailbreak your iPhone 4/3GS on iOS 4.2.1 untethered with PwnageTool Bundle:

Step-1:

Download the untethered PwnageTool Bundles for iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS from this link, extract the .zip file you just downloaded on your desktop.

Step-2:

Then download PwnageTool 4.1.3 from here, then right-click on it and click “Show Package Conents” as displayed.

Step-3:

Now go to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and paste iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148.bundle for iPhone 4, or iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a.bundle for iPhone 3GS in this location.

Step-4:

Then go to Contents/Resources/CustomPackages/CydiaInstaller.bundle/ and copy the info.plist file from here.

Step-5:

Download iOS 4.2.1 .ipsw file for iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS from the links given below and place it to your desktop.

Step-6:

Run PwnageTool in “Expert Mode” and then select your device.

Browse for iOS 4.2.1 firmware file for your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS.

Now check that “Activate the Phone” option is unchecked under “General” and “Cydia Installer” package is selected under “Cydia Packages” option. After successfully checking it, select “Build” to start the custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware building process.

Step-9:

You have to march further for entering in DFU mode; follow the instructions given bellow;

  • Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
  • Release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 additional seconds
  • Your device enters in DFU mode

Step-11:

Go for doing the following set of instructions please;

  • Start iTunes; click the icon from the sidebar in iTunes.

  • Don`t click “Update” or “Check for Update”  button in iTunes and release the “Shift” button gently.
  • iTunes prompts for selection of the location for custom firmware 4.2.1 file.
  • Select the requisite custom .ipsw file and click “Open”.

You have almost done the job at your side. Now just relax, iTunes will do the rest for you. Don`t make any ridiculous move at this stage; just watch the process going on. iTunes will install the new firmware 4.2.1 on your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS, a progress bar indicates the installation progress. Your device will restart robotically just after the completion of installation process.
